I'm as happy as sin...

Well, here it is. I don't get butterflies (or butterfiles as they've been known around the office today) with M. I'm happy to go out with him but there is just no chemistry...It's actually a little sad for me. I really wanted to.

Tonight I've got a date with B - someone who gives me butterfiles with merely an email or a phone call about nothing in particular....Maybe its his strategic use of little pet names (that's always done it for me, I am a bit of a sucker for it). Diminutive names have this weird effect upon me...I wish I could explain why when called angel - something I don't even believe in - I get a little girly....Or maybe its his distinct lack of any feminine characteristics - he's all boy...and he talks like one, something that is apparently very appealing to me right now...Or maybe its his motorcycle...I've not even met the man in person yet and I'm all goofy....I know its in my nature to be overly excited about a potential new love interest....but its so much FUN! :) I love the butterflies and butterfiles...Gotta run...Wish me luck!

Obsessions, opportunities and e-dating...

Wow - I'm not even sure what to say. Things have gotten stranger and stranger and I'm loving it!!

I really should be working on my econ homework but that makes me want to poke my eyes out with a stick. I HATE economics. Please understand, numbers are just so...baffling to me...I get it - well, some of it and I'm going to pass the class and I know I should be more interested and concerned but if I have to discuss the GDP one more time I'm gonna G-D explode....

So, my latest love is Grant-Lee Phillips. And his album Nineteeneighties combines my love of the 80s with my love of him. Its really quite an amazing album - and he's just so...sigh....There's something...sexy about him....musician with those dark brooding eyes...sigh...

Now for the juicier stuff - though, sadly, my life isn't terribly juicy yet - YET...Tonight I have my second date with M. I'm looking forward to it. He's 31, charming and funny and cute...and I feel like I've known him forever! Yeesh, I sound like I'm 16 again...but see after the losers I've been seeing (Nervous Breakdown guy - who I actually really liked, Wallygreens and Dog-Pee guy) M's a breath of fresh air - he's smart and funny and I would not be embarrassed to introduce him to my family (the true litmus test), so, we'll see where this goes. I'm not expecting anything and I won't be broken if it doesn't go anywhere but he tolerates (and is amused by) my drunken text messages where I refer to myself as the Princess - yeah, he's a pretty good guy - so I'll admit I'm hopeful!

The other scoop is the firing of my boss - which was a total and complete shock. While I will miss him terribly I have been given an amazing opportunity. I've basically been charged with running an entire product line for the company - I'm floored!! I'm scared. I'm nervous. BUT I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED!! I drank a whole bottle of wine last night just to calm down - I couldn't even get to work on my homework....sigh....

Anyway, that's really all I've got for now...I need more coffee to combat the mini-hangover I have going on right now...and then, econ. YUCK....

Over and over and over...

I'm having one of those days where I can only listen to one song repeatedly...sigh.. At least it's a good song today. Here it is, enjoy!

Ah, Beyonce says it all.... :)

"You must not know about me
You must not know about me
I will have another you by tomorrow
So don't you ever for a second get to thinking you're irreplaceable

So since I’m not your everything
How about I'll be nothing
Nothing at all to you
Baby I wont shead a tear for you
I won't lose a wink of sleep
Cause the truth of the matter is
Replacing you is so easy

To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
To the left
Everything you own in the box to the left

To the left
To the left

Don't you ever for a second get to thinking you're irreplaceable"

Decisions, decisions...

So here I am trying to give myself a crash course in CSS to help a friend and trying to bs my way through the Psychology of Decision Making. A friend recently joked that I might have a hard time with this class - I've never been good at making decisions...And sure enough, I am struggling....I never knew that there was so much theory behind making a decision. Tonight I tried to choke down a 5 page chapter. I made it through two pages before feeling like I either needed a drink or had just had one. I'm still a little dizzy....

And I can't for the life of me sort out CSS. I have a basic (VERY BASIC) understanding of how it works and I have used and moderately manipulated my own CSS page but this is for a college level class and I'm barely potty trained....UGH....I think my head may explode very soon.

Well, I've got to get back at it. Wish me luck!

Laugh for the day....

I was spammed (no big surprise there) but this time it was really quite funny! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...

A Washington, DC, airport ticket agent offers some examples of why our country is in trouble!

1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!)

2. I got a call from a candidate's staffer, who wanted to go to Cape town. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then she interrupted me with, 'I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Cape town is in Massachusetts.' Without trying to make her look stupid, I calmly explained, 'Cape Cod is in Massachusetts, Cape town is in Africa.' Her response - click.

3. A senior Vermont Congressman called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that's not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied,'Don't lie to me, I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!'

4. I got a call from a lawmaker's wife who asked, 'Is it possible to see England from Canada?' I said, 'No.' She said, 'But they look so close on the map.'

5. An aide for a cabinet member once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. When I pulled up the reservation, I noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas. When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, 'I have heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need & get; a car to drive between gates to save time.'

6. An Illinois Congresswoman called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 am and got to Chicago at 8:33 am. I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois, but she couldn't understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.

7. A New York lawmaker called and asked, 'Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?' I said, 'No, why do you ask?' She replied, 'Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I'm overweight. I think that's very rude!' After putting her on hold for a minute while I looked into it (I was laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno, CA is (FAT - Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on her luggage.

8. A Senator's aide called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, 'Would it be cheaper to fly to California, and then take the train to Hawaii? '

9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman who asked, 'How do I know which plane to get on?' I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, 'I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.'

10. A lady Senator called and said, 'I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola, Florida. Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?' I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola, FL on a commuter plane. She said, 'Yeah, whatever, smarty!'

11. A senior Senator called and had a question about the documents he needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded him that he needed a visa. 'Oh, no I don't. I've been to China many times and never had to have one of those.' I double checked and sure enough, his stay required a visa. When I told him this he said, 'Look, I've been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!'

12. A New Mexico Congresswoman called to make reservations, 'I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York.' I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, 'Are you sure that's the name of the town?' 'Yes, what flights do you have?' replied the lady. After some searching, I came back with, 'I'm sorry, ma'am, I've looked up every airport code in the country and can't find a Rhino anywhere.' The lady retorted, 'Oh, don't be silly ! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!' So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, 'You don't mean Buffalo, do you?' The reply? 'Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.'
