Another year passes...

Its been another year on this planet. And I suppose I should feel something, yet I don't. Everyone has been terribly kind to me and I am appreciative but the marker of another year doesn't seem to hold much importance to me any longer....Don't get me wrong, I am thankful - to be here and for all that I have. I've just not been given to reflection lately.

That all said, I have to say thanks to the thoughtful and kind gifts I've received. Sarah and Cindy indulged and encouraged my insanity while my family just spoiled me a bit....And I treated myself! lol.

Shredding...

So I was doing some mad Enron-style shredding this afternoon, all on the up and up, mind you (protecting clients billing data) and while doing so I really looked at my little shredder and its usage warnings. First, it can only handle up to 18 pages at a time and it can shred credit cards - great! And it lets me know that paperclips and staples are fine too. However, it seems to think that there should be no shredding of hands (ala Fargo) or solid ties. Which, ok, that's fine too I suppose - I prefer men in patterned ties anyway.

My problem is this - it claims, according to those little icons, that it can destroy CDs. And it can. What it does NOT tell you is the manner in which it does so - that when you shred a CD you should don protective eye wear and be prepared to be covered in little glimmery (and painful) splinters of CD guts....I stuck a CD in there and the next thing I knew, it was shooting out bits of CD all over the place at high velocity!

Quite the irritating and dangerous experience, to say the least. If I were a litigious person, I might be inclined to take some action to recoup my spilled blood - albeit just a few drops. Instead, I'm going to go pick CD out of my hair and shake my sweater! Sigh....

Mmmm.... Bacon....

So, its been a while since my last post about bacon. By no means should this imply that I'm not consumed by (or consuming) bacon (though a lot less lately as there is no such thing as diet bacon - will someone work on that, please?!?!).

After the disappointment of the bacon air fresheners (that only smelled like plastic dog treats) I've continued my search for all things bacon related and found Bacon Soap!!!! While visually appealing, its not bacon-scented so I'm not as impressed..

Sigh...

A Pleasent Phishing Trip

As usual, at some point my day involves reporting a bunch of phishing sites to hosts, registrars, etc. - I use PhishTank.com for the ones I can't handle. Usually those registered in foreign countries are the most difficult for me to deal with so I hope that through PhishTank they'll eventually be addressed....

Often it requires some digging, several emails and then follow up a few days later. I always go back and check to see if the issues have been resolved and if not, I start the process all over again....Often I'm met with stupid auto responses and little action or the NMP response - Not My Problem...Very frustrating...

Well, this morning I had a completely different experience. I must now sing the praises of the people at Fast Domain (fastdomain.com). I sent them an email notifying them of a phishing site they were hosting and lo and behold, they had killed the site within 10 minutes! I've NEVER had such a quick response...

There is hope! I know its a small victory but it feels nice that they took it seriously enough to act so quickly.

Without Words

I have lost my words - I know not where they have gone or when (if) they will return...Music seems to serve as my proxy:

So tired and so stressed...

I'm a touch off these days. Java programming is kicking my ass and while i know i have to be a masochist, this is a bit much even for me!!!

I am brain dead these days....

I have nothing...

Sigh....
